It’s been a city icon even before the crane came down atop the iconic sail-shaped W Hotel on the Barcelona waterfront. Located on the 26th floor of the W Hotel Barcelona, Eclipse is a nightlife concept brought to the Spanish seaside via the UK owners of ever-posh Bouji’s (guests Prince Harry, Kate Middleton) and their Eclipse nightclub with two outlets in London. While one would think it wise to import a more local nightclub concept to this Spanish city, the upscale VIP lounge concept is a relative new concept to far friendlier Barcelona where velvet rope and 10-person security entourage to just get through the door.
 
Designed by world-famed architect Ricardo Bofill, Eclipse is accessed through a private elevator that leads to a dark corridor that opens to one of the most impressive sea to city views in Barcelona. Inside, an architectural series of interconnecting lounges and bar offers an odd mix of local hipsters and wayward hotel guests that don’t always fit the cool quotient but are let inside regardless with the flash of a room key. Luckily the space is big enough to dilute any social oddities as the cool crowd gravitates to the groovy lounge furnishings designed by Isabel López-Quesada.

A decent all-night dinner menu includes appetizers and light snacks of pricey sushi, crispy tempura, homemade ceviche, and meaty bites from the grill.
