JETSETREPORT

The Chicest Places to say ‘I do’

April 14, 2014 05.03 PM

Tis the season of 'Save the Dates' and 'Wedding Announcements' and this year JetSetReport celebrates with a roundup of our all-time favorite destination weddings. Ideally they are kept on the small side, no more than 50-guests to these dreamy destinations that might even outshine your honeymoon. We suggest a place you’ve been before and absolutely loved, but that’s still unfamiliar and beguilingly unknown.

We think of towns like Porte Ecole along Italy’s Tuscan Coast where guests spend their day meandering harbor shops before a sunset ceremony and waterfront reception at Hotel Il Pelicano. We dream of long wedding weekends in the English countryside at Lime Wood or a coastal nuptial with a few friends at The Idle Rocks in Cornwall. Who hasn’t imagined Fontelina dressed in black and white for a formal Capri wedding as sunset nuptials pass in front of Faraglioni with midnight fireworks display? Or for something a bit more agrarian but still aristocratic, Domaine De Murtoli in Corsica will keep the monetarily modest from outright blushing.

For spare no expense weddings we can’t imagine anything better than spending an equestrian weekend among the white Arabian horses at Selman-Marrakech. Guests would take in the bazaar and medina by day before returning for more formal night events. The Indian version would be Devi Gahr that was once the royal palace of Delwara just 30-minutes outside Udaipur " providing you avoid the rainy season. Those looking for something snowy, New Zealand will be inked in a white silhouette come mid-June and few properties would offer a bridal backdrop better than Matakauri Lodge. And after a recent trip to Mexico’s Pacific Coast, we insisted that a wedding week at Cuixmala would be the perfect beginning to any love story.
