JETSETREPORT

September is our favorite month in Paris

September 02, 2014 08.53 AM

One of our favorite times of the year in Paris, September offers a city filled with residents that fled for August and arrive home to enjoy the final few weeks of the summer season. While Paris Plage has long been packed-away, rooftop lounges like Les Perchoir as well as Nuba and Wanderlust still perk with life through the midnight hour even midweek.

There's also a chic new rooftop playground atop the Peninsula Paris that opened a few weeks back in the 16th near the Arc de Triomphe. Past the fleet of Rolls Royce that line its entrance and through the grand lobby where Gershwin penned An American in Paris, the sixth floor rooftop is an aviator wonderland of 1920s design deco inspired by French flying aces that sits under a retractable roof. Chef Sidney Redel does a bistronomique menu for formal dining with playful lounge bar that spills along a massive terrace with Eiffel Tower views. Not the only hotel opening this summer, the former swim club Molitor is home to the sexiest hotel pools, yes more than one, in town. Plaza Athenee also reopened following a 6-month refresh that revamped interiors including its famed Le Bar that roars through 2am despite that pesky Hollywood boycott that's all but unnoticed in Paris.

Events like the 27th Biennale des Antiquaires opens that's one of the world's great antique events open at Grand Palais with designer Jacques Grange recreates the gardens of Versailles inside for the 10-day event. The month wraps-up with fashion week that brings the town to a dramatic pause for the Prêt-à-Porter shows that mark the end of summer in Paris.
