A closer-look at Turkish Airlines

June 24, 2014 07.16 PM

In recent years, Turkish Airlines has made great strides with Business Class travellers looking for competitive fares and access to destinations as diverse as Entebbe and Houston. Recently, we gave the airline a try on it service to Kilimanjaro where we were pleasantly surprised by the level of service offered on this emerging European carrier. At its Istanbul hub, a dazzling private lounge sprawls over two floors penned by local Autoban Design with billiards room, showers and various Turkish-inspired food options that included some of the best food you’ll ever eat in an airport. Once in the air, the fleet includes a selection of 777 and A340 and A330 on long-haul flights with lie-flat seating. In-flight meals services include a chef that doubles as cabin crew orchestrating an impressive trolley service of mezza appetizers and candlelight dining for the main dinner service. Beds are well outfitted with duvets and ornamental pillows promptly collected before landing. Sadly, the airline also operates a fleet of 737-900s on shorter 5-7 hour regional flights with angled Business Class seats that leave much to be desired.
