Luxury Hotel

Those familiar with the Raffles-chain have seen the brand emerge into new markets from Southeast Asia to central Europe, managing iconic properties like its Singapore flagship to Le Royal Monceau in Paris. Istanbul brings an all-new luxury star to the collection within the city's Zorlu Center that's home to an array of modern luxury boutiques from Lanvin to Saint Laurent, Eataly and a movie complex/performing arts center. The hotel is part of the larger Zorlu complex, occupying a stunning location above the Bosphorus, with posh circular entrance. Inside, walls of veiny Turkish marble are trimmed in elaborate murals of French palace interiors reminiscent of the Le Royal Monceau. Spare, modern furnishings in white leather and dark, ebony woods contrast elaborate Murano chandeliers, onyx inlays and oversize lobby sculpture by Martin Dawe floated in water. Two restaurants, two bars and a patisserie café include Arola by Michelin-starred Spanish chef Sergi Arola serving-up Catalan dishes a modern spin. A sixth floor pool deck with terraced garden attracts a youthful crowd with late-night lounge scene and DJs with a jaw-dropping backdrop. The spa services both the hotel and nearby residences at Zorlu with a 30,000-sqaure foot space of three hamams, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis, experience showers and ice fountains that are a modern alternative to the city's historic bath institutions.

The Room

Given its sprawling location, Raffles Istanbul is home to just 132 guestrooms and 49 suites that mix a more luxurious design palette of crushed silks, velvets and local artistry among a modern architectural space of inlay wood floors and infinite glass windows. Many rooms include furnished private terraces and balconies with some of the best views of any local hotel stretching out over the Bosphorus and cityscape. Elaborate, oversize bathrooms feature marble details and freestanding tubs with techy details like TVs hidden within the mirror. In room kitchenettes include Nespresso machines, selection of Turkish spirits and gourmet snacks curated by local kitchens.
