Along a stretch of Queensway, Upper House rises above Pacific Place as a posh hotel address for Hong Kong visitors looking for modern style and residential amenities. Designed by Andre Fu, visitors arrive to a bustling circular driveway shared by properties like the JW Marriot and Shangri-La. A staff dressed in tailored navy and black suites assists with check-in that actually takes place within the room. Up a series of long escalators, a small landing offers coffee bar and The Lawn patio bar that perks with life on late, sunny afternoons. A series of elevators connect to the guest room floors that surround an open atrium connect a lower-level water feature with the top-floor Café Grey eatery and in-house lounge. And what an eatery it is, located just beyond a sky bridge with dining room illuminated in harbor and skyline views with neighboring Grey Bar that perks with sophisticated cocktail revelers from happy hour through 3am on weekends.

The Room

Virtually all rooms within Upper House feature skyline and harbor views, even entry-level Studio 70 rooms that feature a spacious 730-sqaure feet of space and residential style amenities like a small serving bar and living room. Bathrooms are perhaps the grand attraction of all rooms, massive spaces cocooned in glassy skyline views from freestanding bathtubs and rain showers. One of the best closest we’ve seen at any hotel property is ideal for longer stays with seating area and enough space for full fashion wardrobes. Studio 80 Rooms feature larger living areas as well as better views with Suites that offer even larger bathrooms and bedrooms that command the best bedside views in the city. While our favorite address on Hong Kong Island, sadly the in-house fitness center lacks a proper spa and we did miss having a pool on a hot summer afternoon.
