  • When it opens in early November, you'll probably hear more about the swanky restaurant within the former Manzi's Seafood Restaurant than the upstairs hotel that's the latest in a series of top-notch London gastro-hotels. Its quirky entrepreneurial owners, yes that's them in the photos,  operate two other St. John branded eateries in the city as well as an upcoming bakery located walking distance to the West End at Leicester Square.

St. John Hotel is comprised of a ground-floor restaurant, upstairs bar and 15 mostly all-white guest rooms and top-floor suite priced from £200 taking-up the rest of the building. Owners Trevor Gulliver and Fergus Henderson redesigned much of the space themselves including the hip new staircase that connects everything together.

St. John Hotel is by far the owners' most ambitious and dressed-up venture to date departing from their previous leanings toward no-nonsense utilitarianism for this restaurant that happens to also be a small boutique hotel. "Fergus trained as an architect and I have always designed my earlier projects," says co-owner Gulliver of the inspiration behind the hotel, "so the design comes from an physical interpretation of our philosophy of St. John, the purpose of the building and for those elements of Fergus' thought unique to him."

  • The Room:

Simple but luxurious all-white spaces feature glossy white wainscoting, integrated TVs and fancy industrial lighting illuminating super-shiny floors. Post-supper rooms are the smaller, practical short-term space for people that anticipate being too tired or likely too drunk to face a ride home. A rooftop suite can be extended to include three bedrooms or just one. All guest rooms incorporate open-style bathrooms with crisp white linens ideal for those looking for a single or handful of nights in the city.
