One&Only Palmilla dazzles at the original location of the famous Palmilla Resort that hosted luminaries like Jean Harlow, Bing Crosby and Ernest Hemmingway back in the day and more recently Tom Cruise, Oprah and John Travolta. Visitors arrive to a compound built for privacy and with it incredible security gates that open to a promenade driveway of majestic king palms usually see from the window of the in-house Hummer.
The Spanish Colonial details of the historic resort have not been lost on ever-posh One&Only that uses sexy ad campaigns to attract the world's rich under-40 luminaries, through a triple arch porte-cochere leading to the main lobby. The hotel's original infinity edge pool also still exists, seen from the reception overlooking a private beach amongst waterfalls and swim-up bar that's thankfully for adults only.
Recognizable names seem to be a common theme at Palmilla, including its outpost of Market restaurant by Michelin stared chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten in his first foray south of the border. Vongerichten also oversees new Suviche Restaurant and Lounge that specializes in sushi and ceviches by Japan-plucked protegee Nobuo Iwaseya.

The Room:
Rooms at Palmilla are the priciest of the three hotel mentioned, with Beachfront rooms offering 24-hour butler in rustic contemporary spaces with beachfront infinity pools and Lady Primrose bath amenities that seem to be the luxury norm in these parts. Style mavens will want to splurge on Villa Cortez, albeit the price of a used luxury car on a per night basis, but fit for a rock star with private kitchen, outdoor entertaining area with own firepit and rain showers as well as sound studio for anyone looking for the best high-roller suite in Cabo.
