We've waited a very long time, but alas Fasano Punta del Este is finally ready to open. Known as Fasano Las Piedras, it's located inland from Manantiales just past the La Barra along a picturesque rural pasture that sprawls along 1,185 acres of picturesque pine forests and peek-a-boo ocean views. The site is a throwback to the Uruguayan pampas of long ago, albeit with a polo player sexuality uniquely Fasano and northern Punta del Este.

Fasano chose this site, just 2 miles from the Arroyo Maldonado River, as their first resort outside of their native Brazil due to its unique mix of courtyside and sea. It's halfway between the high-rises of Punta and coastal glamour of Jose Ignacio " ideal for active types that love a bit of both. Las Piedras Fasano is part of a greater residential development with 205 villas designed by architect Isay Weinfeld with  rustic environmentally integrated in every detail.  A picturesque drive from the seaside highway into the rolling countryside is dotted with jagged rock formations and grassy dunes.

The lobby comes into view with exposed granite walls and low-flung roofline with reclaimed beam ceiling featuring a cozy lobby lounge arranged in a visual mix of chunky Italian furnishings and modernist mission-style design.   A hilltop Fasano dining room is laden in eclectic wood paneling and leather furnishings opening to panoramic terrace. Outside a free-form pool overlooks the horizon, connected to a series of outlying buildings home to a new spa and opposite an equestrian center with clubhouse and polo grounds. Guests are provided use of a nearby boathouse and private beach infused with just the right amount of chic travelers to make it the next global hotel hotspot.

The Room

The top hoteliers in Brazil, Fasano made a name for itself originally as a restaurateur in Sao Paulo, debuting a legendary high-rise hotel in the city’s Jardins followed by the successful Rio oceanfront hotel. Fasano Las Piedras is more in tune with the style of the original Sao Paulo property; rooms are a creamy palette of hazelnut-colored walls lined in wood paneling with smoky leather headboards and hardwood floors throughout. 20 bungalows and 12 larger suite bungalows have added details of flagstone floors, expansive outdoor entertaining area and small bar with espresso machine and collection of dinnerware for in-room snacking between polo and hitting the beach clubs of Jose Ignacio.
