Along a gravel residential street atop one of the higher points in Uruguay's summertime chic Jose Ignacio, this stylish boutique hotel of a similar moniker is a private villa getaway of just six fully furnished units surrounding an all-white courtyard facing the nearby lighthouse and roaring sea. Without the hype of nearby Playa Vik or upcoming Setai, this relatively unknown boutique hotel popped-onto the scene of fashion travelers who arrive with Louis Vuitton duffel under arm and through a simple wooden gate to the main resort deck. A massive rectangular pool is at the center of the property surrounded in well-spaced lounger that maintain the element of seclusion and exclusivity, providing there are no party-minded patrons thumping trance music from their units. Inside one of the poolside cabanas on the first floor of the structure, a main room lobby offers all day refreshments as well as the business aspects of this small beach hotel. The location is actually idyllic for those who like to take in the beach near Posada del Faro as well as make late afternoon lunch at La Huella on the other side of the peninsula.
The Room
White, one and two story townhouse-style villas surround a long rectangular pool with full sun exposure day and night. Groovy, bohemian spaces are arranged with large living room with white slip covered sofas and lounge chairs facing wood-burning fireplaces and LCD screen TVs. Windows drawn in sheer white curtains offset French doors that flank the front of units with semi-private terraces but within view of other neighboring units. Quintessential beach kitchens of white appliances and paneled woodwork offer all the plates, cookware and appliances one might need to whip-up a chic dinner party. Bedrooms are charming but simple spaces with platform beds in glossy white wood under black-and-white beach photos with easy access to outdoor terrace located on the upper level or rear end of select units.
