The Normandie Club in Los Angeles describes itself as "a damn fine hotel bar". That is an apt description as it is not a bar that is pretentious or that goes for style over substance. In fact, the decor is minimalist and recreates the speakeasies you might have found in LA in the 1930s and 40s. The decor is industrial rustic with exposed brick walls and minimalist features. The essentials of the bar, however, including the bar itself, the sofas, the bar stools, and the chairs, are all very traditional - dark solid woods and leather sofas. At the bar, there are even hooks at about waist level where you can hang your coat, similar to what you would find in a traditional pub in Glasgow or Dublin.
